An Atmosphere of Hate

There is a lot of religious hate in our country today, it's sad and pathetic. If you feel so strongly negatively about a person's chosen religious ideals there is no question, but that you are at fault.

The wave of religious hatred running over this country now is not directed at Muslims or Islam though, as the liberal elite would have you believe, rather it's focused solely on conservative family values. What is sad is when well meaning religious people take the misinformation they are given by the leftist elite as truth, thus putting two good groups at odds with another.

For example, I've noticed my own church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, come under fire recently. Not too long ago there was blatant attacks on the church from the CBS hatemongering show, Cold Case, which featured a man turned serial killer because of Mormon influences on him. The entire show was filled with lies and misinformation meant to discredit and embarrass the church. To top it off, one of the most holy and sacred parts of our religion was utterly desecrated, all in the name of 'entertainment'.

There have also been recent stories published recently about a crack down on polygamous groups in Utah and Arizona, these groups who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (better known as Mormons), whose practices are decried by the church as being unacceptable and wrong are still identified as Mormons. Is it true that they are a break off of the LDS church, absolutely, but to describe their works as that of the LDS church is reprehensible and poor journalism. It is no different from describing the works of the KKK as 'Christian' or 'Catholic'.

The Left would have you believe that it is Islam facing the great wrong is this country today, but that just isn't the case. There have been no serious cases of Quaran abuse, no widespread or concentrated attack against Islam, in fact, they are getting a very fair shake in our popular media, often times being portrayed as heroes or unjustly accused. Whereas Christians, and most especially Mormons are being cast as villains and evil everywhere.

There is no question about it, but that the elitists in this country have a religious agenda, they will not rest until their religion of self-worship has supplanted all forms of Christianity. Their message of intellectualism is enticing to people, who hasn't felt that they are smarter than other people, that the masses are stupid or don't understand things as well as I do.

This is exactly where they attack, once you are convinced you're smarter than others, you no longer need to waste your time on their activities like religion.

I urge all religious peoples to foster a new era of tolerance, do not let the elite turn us against one another, we have to stand strong together if we are to preserve the rights of religion in America.

Followup on Newsweek

Wandered over to Drudge this morning and saw this exchange between the press and Scott McClellan, Bush Spokesman.

Remember when you read this that Newsweek has already admitted that their story was completely false, and the White House said they felt Newsweek should do more to repair the damage they had caused than run a small print retraction. Afterall, they did end up being the cause of riots and murder (my words, not the White House).

It's sad to me that the Press has become the most corrupt part of American life.

Vomit A Raging River of Puke

I have a saying I like to use, especially at work. 'That makes me so mad I'm going to vomit in rage!' (savvy readers will recognize this as coming from Homer Simpson) Over time this has evolved into a 'puking a raging river of vomit' thanks to coworker Bruce. Well that describes just how I feel right now.

I've been upset all day at the brash attitudes of Newsweek, which ran a story about Americans deliberately defacing the Qur'an. This led to riots and calls for the American withdrawal all over the middle east, including Afghanistan, which since the liberation from Al'Qaida had been a very supportive partner of the United States. Elsewhere, it lead to a rash of violence and killings.

The truth is the story was a blatant lie, meant to discredit America in the face of the world, and yet another attempt by the media to topple the Bush administration.

When faced with the facts Newsweek retracted the story. If you go to their webpage and search, you will find the link to the story in small type on the right hand side of the page. Not even the top item in it's category. The type for this monumental story is smaller than that of 'How Stars Beat Their Addictions.' Incredible.

At the very least the editor's of Newsweek and the reporters, Michael Isikoff and John Barry, are responsible for the death and destruction resulting from their fraudulent stories. If nothing else they should be doing some major work to correct the damage they've caused.

Suggestions on what possible steps they could take to fix this would be great.

-----------

Another thing that really has been upsetting me recently is all the talk about Republicans and Nazis. I heard today a man say, with a completely straight face, that if you took everything Hitler ever said and replaced 'Jew' with 'Liberal' it would be exactly what the Republican's are saying now.

This is really disturbing to me. Have we become so desensitized to the utter disregard for life that was marked by the Nazi's that we can compare them to our modern day politics? I think it is remarkably insensitive to those who actually did suffer and die at the hands of the Nazis and does a great disservice to their memory.

I may think people like Howard Dean and Hillary Clinton cross the line with their shrill personal attacks, but I would never relate them to Hitler.

-----------

And the final thing today that has me upset. I work in Library service company. We often deal with librarians all around the world and are always in need of intuitive, easy means to help them communicate with us.

I am currently a programmer on an IBM Mainframe using JCL, Wylbur, and PS1. Now, thats my job, but I'm trained as a C#, HTML/CSS, Java, JavaScript, PHP programmer. So when asked about creating some php code to allow folks to email my boss from the web about a certain upcoming conference, I said sure. I didn't mind that it was outside of my job description, and well above the pay I'm making, I just wanted to help out.

I finished the work, and used it to launch an email showing how it worked. I've heard from second hand sources that the email was received, but the man for whom I did it? Not a word of thanks. Not even an inkling to me that it worked. But you better believe I'd be hearing about it if it were not working yet.

I find it disgusting that their are some who are so insecure about managing others that they cannot even show gratitude to those under them, especially for something that goes beyond the call of their work. Will I ever provide the same services again for them? Sure, for a consultant's fee.

1 Year Anniversary

May 14th was my 1 year anniversary being married to my wonderful wife. There is nothing like having a family to keep you grounded, she's been a great part in taking me from what I was and helping make me into what I can become. She also occasionally proofreads this blog to make me look like less of a grammar fool.

We celebrated our anniversary at the Hilton in Salt Lake City, Utah, not quite as ambitions as our original plans of going to San Diego, California but when you've just bought a house your $$ options suddenly narrow significantly. But we had great fun.

We arrived on Friday the 13th approx. 3pm, signed in and got our room. It was a suite on the 8th floor, with access to the executive lounge on the 18th floor. A pretty decent little room (basically it was two normal rooms with out a wall in between them and the 2nd room, instead of a bed had a desk and couch and 2nd tv.

I wont go into a lot of detail, but we did eat one night at 'The Old Salt City Jail' a steakhouse set in a refurbished 1800's jail. The food was delicious and it was fun to eat in a jail cell.

Overall we had a great time and got to be together with out any responsibilities for a weekend. Things went so well we decided to renew our contract for another year!

Out Comes the Sun Again

After several years of drought, the rains finally returned to Utah, drenching the state for the better part of the year. Over the last three weeks you can count the number of sunny days on a single hand, but now the rains have ceased and the clouds mostly cleared out and the sunshine is coming. It's much like the Clinton era. I only hope the worse of the two Clinton's doesn't run for election in '08 as that would truly be disastrous for all non radical left-wingers.

The base closure / realignment list was announced today. This is always a hard thing as on the one hand we absolutely must have a mobile, strong military within reasonable cost frame, and we're over extended on bases. But no one wants the base in their area closed down, not even the Dems who normally talk about slashing military budges left and right. They are just too huge a source of revenue. I believe the current list of closures are necessary and need to be made, although I feel sorry for those who have based their livelihood around the base. It is possible with a well thought out plan to meet a base closure and still expand. Here is a list of proposed closures.

Best of all, I'm glad we are closing many of our bases in Europe, while we need to keep a strong military presence there (and throughout the world) we have been pouring too much money into their economies for too long. Lets bring some of those dollars home where they belong.

---

I'm also a little surprised in how little attention the Senate report showing the British and French politicians, George Galloway and Charles Pasqua of accepting bribes from Saddam Hussein to advance his murderous reign of tyranny. I wonder what it must feel like to be these two war criminals and know deep down that the deaths of thousands and thousands of Iraqi innocents are on their head. But hey, they at least made a couple million off of it... I hope that covers the cost of their integrity.

I wouldn't expect the media to start covering this story -- obviously the dating life of Ben Afflec is far more important than the extreme corruption of the European governments.

Happy Birthday, to Me

Excuse me as I take a moment to self congratulate. I've managed to make it through 28 years of life. I must say, the last year has been by far the best, I ended up getting married 2 weeks after my last birthday, and I've had nothing but great times since then.

And on yet another self-congratulatory note (I really should stop starting my sentences with 'And' as I got in trouble for that in a previous post), I got my first ever 4.0. I'm pretty excited after having a tough 6 class schedule.

Enough of my Chad cheering. Don't forget Mothers Day is coming up.
