Diet Coke & Mentos

Sara held/hosted a Scanning Team party over the weekend, not long after enjoying the videos of people combining the awesome forces of Mentos and Diet Coke, so we decided to do one of our own.

Now ours may not have been spectacular, we didn't attempt to drill holes through the mentos and caps and drop them in from under the cap and harness the stream of diet coke for a higher, longer display, but we did show that it works, and it was fun.

For the purists, here is the video, straight from my camera. Link [30mb]

For those who like smaller downloads, here is the edited version (same content, lesser quality). Link [2.5mb]

Trip to Phoenix [pictures]

Here are some photos from our trip to Phoenix over the weekend. Luckily it was a cool 115 degrees, but don't worry, by midnight it had cooled down to a chilly 90 degrees!

Our first stop was at the Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort, somewhat near Gunnison. What a magical place. We used the facilities, which had framed pictures of trout on the walls.

Next we stopped at Moqui Cave, near Kanab. This was some sort of fort built outside of the cave which went back around 200 ft. It was used in the days gone past as a bar.

This youngster is the reason why we went. Or at least thats what the women-folk would have you believe.
(see women-folk)
This is the reason why I went. A beautiful double-double from IN-N-OUT was calling my name. Who am I to refuse?

On the way back we decided to stop at the big hole -- The Grand Canyon. I can't remember ever having visited it before, though I may have as a child. It really is a big big hole.

The "Watch Tower" I thought was so cool, I saw it from the road as we were driving and had visions of soldiers and indians fighting along it. Then I got there and found out it was a gift store and had been built as a gift store, like a theme building. But it's still darned cool.
The nice thing about the Grand Canyon was that it was a lot cooler than Phoenix was. The bad part was that it was still devilishly hot enough to destroy a young child's instrument of artistic expression within moments of falling on the ground.

It's amazing to me that it's just flat ground and then boom, a huge 1000+ foot hole. (Grand Canyon in Navajo Reservation)

Lake Powell is so low! Tree Huggers draining the lake piss me off.

We decided to take a 40 mile dirt road "shortcut" through Escalante. It was quite the bumpy yet beautiful drive.

Working on a new Business Idea

I'm currently working on a new business idea with a friend and a coworker that I think will be huge.

I can't say much about it now, because it's still so early in the development and I really don't want the idea to get out and start making money without us! But I can say this, I definitely see this as revolutionizing the way we view our lives.

It's important to me to get this going right, so I've been looking into some articles online of how to get this started successfully.

So far, I've really liked this article on starting up a company:
And this has been a great read on how to file for a patent:
I would love to get some more, if anyone has any success stories or knows of good articles, please help me out.

Thanks!
