Fixin’ it up

A lot of people have asked us when we’re moving. Mainly our neighbors who seem to want us gone for some reason… Well, we are working hard on getting there, here’s some of what we’ve been up to.

We have turned the Laundry room from this…

(Not pictured is the “Laundry” that was hand painted in black on the mostly painted red wall)

this and then into…

We also took this…

Notice also the baseboards, which were painted the same color as the walls, are now being painted a glossy, ultra white. Oh yeah, we also took the carpet out of the entire house. Sadly it was disgusting, and even worse once we ripped it up and could see the countless # of “accidents” that had occurred in every conceivable spot over the carpet.

I can truly say that painters and carpet ripper-uppers certainly earn their pay.

We need to finish all the baseboard painting by Tuesday, because that is when the new carpet is being installed.

Chunga and Cort – gone too soon

Every once in awhile, an event so disastrous occurs we must all step back and reevaluate the direction of our lives and our place in the world.

Tuesday, The Chunga Show with Jimmy Chunga and Cort Johnson (and Chad) was not on the radio. Instead it had been replaced by canned, crappy music. Just to be clear, this was not such an event as I described above. But it does really suck.

Those who listened to and liked The Chunga show enjoyed listening to the humor and information that was provided. If anything, music got in the way of the show, except for the SAD Song of the Day during the winter months. Even Chunga’s extreme arrogance was often tempered by his incredible sense of humor and by the fact that he was one person in the entertainment business that wasn’t afraid to stand up for a conservative point of view.

The question everyone is asking is, ‘what happened to the Chunga show?, Where did Chunga and Cort go?, What happened to Chunga and Cort?’

As far as I can tell it appears as if Citadel Broadcasting, which owns 101.9 The End has been facing serious financial troubles, and has been for a long time. Although the Chunga Show was likely one of their best rated shows in Utah, it was also probably fairly expensive. It appears as if they cut the show, Chunga is gone, although Cort stayed on at the new station to help get it going (according to his facebook message). Obviously Cort is looking out for his family.

Although I support Cort and want him to do well, I feel I can’t listen to 101.9 the end anymore. Their music playlist is terrible, and they killed my favorite show, so it’s off my presets now.

I’m hoping in the future Chunga and Cort can be reunited somewhere else, unaffiliated with Citadel. If I hear about anything, I’ll let you know.

In the meantime, I’m not sure what I’ll be listening to in the mornings on the way to work. If anyone has any good ideas, let me know.

We’re Moving

Sara and I recently had an opportunity to try for a short sell of a house near where we live (it was foreclosed on and right about to go to auction so the bank was very anxious to get anything out of it). We weren't looking for the opportunity, but when it came along, we decided to pursue it. Everyone had pretty much given up hope, short sells are notoriously difficult, but in the end (yesterday) it all came rushing together quickly and wrapped up. We signed the closing papers last night, and the seller should have already signed them this morning, so, once the papers are recorded legally, the house is ours.
Here are a few pictures.

This is from the front. The nice thing about this, is that the house faces southward, so the sun will help with snow removal. Also, you can't really tell from this picture, but there is a nice, large 3 car garage, which is what really made me want it.

Inside the house is quite spacious and comfortable. There's a really nice mix of openness and compartmentalized rooms to make things work really well. We are planning on painting the wall on the left, as we  find it ugly.
New House 009
This is the fireplace you could see on the left from the picture above. The weird orangy-brown color on the wall surrounding it will be painted. The mantle is very nice though.

The kitchen is nice, obviously the previous owners need to get their stuff out, or we will need to throw a lot of stuff away. The funny thing is that someone broke in recently and stole the refrigerator.

The second story deck is what you see in the second picture, that leads out from the main family room. The basement leads out to the back yard. The Ranches golf course runs behind us, I think we're on the 7th or 10th hole.

Yesterday with the snow gone, we discovered this delightful garden area with paths. This may be a wonderful place to build a new waterfall feature....

Driving in to work today, we took this picture from Lehi Main St. of the back of the house.
Hope you enjoyed the tour.

VW = Very Dub-sturbing

I’m extremely disturbed recently by VolksWagon attempting to change history by subtly changing history. Yes, you may be the People’s Wagon, but you’re not in charge of whats written in our history books!
Obviously I’m talking about the foolish game that VW is pushing in their commercials called ‘Punch Dub’ as if that could ever replace every child’s beloved ‘Slug Bug’ game. Face it VW, no one cares about your Jettas or your Rabbitts. The only thing we want to punch people when we see is a Bug. And don’t get all hoighty toighty and call it a Beetle. We know a Bug when we see it.
I can only hope that VW will realize that they are simply making a mockery of a time honored tradition and repent of their ways.
